Forensic Document Investigation
Based in Sydney and serving all States and Territories of Australia, Forensic Document Investigation (FDI) provides a focused service on handwriting and signature comparisons. This includes:
- Comparisons between specimen/example handwriting or signatures with disputed/questioned samples
- Provision of preliminary or full expert reports
- Attendance at courts or tribunals to provide expert evidence
- Independent peer review of expert reports obtained by other service providers
Additionally, FDI provides a consultancy and referral service in the following fields:
- Indented handwriting impressions on paper. Indented handwriting is usually invisible to the naked eye but can reveal what was written on an overlaying page. These “invisible” indented handwriting impressions can be revealed by specialised equipment such as the ESDA (Electro Static Detection Apparatus) manufactured by Foster & Freeman Ltd
- Linguistic comparisons which compare the content of language whether it be written or spoken to detect similarities or differences
- Obliterated text or writing
- Damaged or torn/shredded paper
- Ink comparisons
- Fingerprints on documents
- Digital text or images located on electronic documents stored on computer/photocopier/mobile-phone hard drives
